Delmar Baptist Church

Welcome

In July, 2001, I became pastor of Delmar Baptist Church, drawn by its vibrant hope and strong sense of compassion. I was immediately impressed by the remarkably high level of dedication and depth of generosity expressed by the congregation. My sense was that Delmar is one of the best kept secrets in St. Louis. Well, some secrets are too good to keep! We've worked hard over the past six years to get the word out, and this websit e is one more attempt to do just that.

Before coming to Delmar, I pastored congregations in Utah, Maryland and the Washington, DC area. Along the way I also served in campus ministry at the University of Utah, Princeton University and the University of Mississippi. These rich years of pastoral experience have filled my life with wonderful people and amazing journeys. Delmar continues to astonish me by how we:

Delmar is a diverse congregation. Some might call us more liberal than most other Baptist churches. I prefer the word open -hearted to liberal. We are not always of one mind theologically and politically, but we are of one heart. At the center of our life together is a burning desire to follow Christ and to obey his commandment to "love one another, as I have loved you."

I hope you'll join us for Bible study or worship. If you have been away from organized religion, perhaps for some very good reasons, Delmar is a good place to come back to church -- at least to try it. If you do, I trust you'll find a spiritual community marked by loving acceptance and authenticity.

We also invite you to read our monthly newsletter (pdf).

Welcome!
